Partners Column

Dear friends

Wish you and your families and your businesses a very cheerful and prosperous year 2014

Am thrilled and amazed by the victory of AAP (Aam Admi Party) in Delhi elections and taking reins of Delhi government within one year forming a political party. It speaks volume and reinforces confidence in the Indian Democracy. An ordinary citizen can be part of political process and governance.

In Dec 2013, Hyderabad witnessed a Tie Entrepreneurial Summit (TES), Asia’s largest entrepreneurial meet, which attracted over 1800 participants. It was indeed a festive occasion for the people in the entrepreneurial ecosystem consisting of companies from all stages of life cycle (startups, early stage and growth) founders, investors etc., Being a Charter Member, it was wonderful to witness this event and see how this ecosystem is getting evolved in the last few years. I strongly believe that entrepreneurship coupled with social ventures can change the face of India, the governments alone can’t achieve this. Hence creating strong ecosystem for start-ups in India is very important by providing support in terms of capital, mentoring, incentives etc.,

I was reflecting some of the big things which are likely to have huge impact on our lives over the next few years:

  1. Emergence of SMAC (Social, Mobile, Analytics and Cloud) as next big tech revolution which will impact every human being the way we live, interact, work etc.,

  2. Bitcoin – the digital currency gaining a huge momentum across the globe while Indian central bank is very skeptical about it and has advised to be cautious.

  3. MOOC (Mass Online Open Courses) – revolutionizing and equalizing learning opportunity for every human being. This is getting penetrated quite fast; None of the best universities can afford to ignore this. This will help India immensely.

India is passing through a phase of transformation with regard to its political process, judiciary, media, civil society activism etc., which will eventually help India become an economic super power and thereby provide better life and living standards for every citizen.

Companies Act, 2013 is likely to be implemented in full by 1st April 2014. In view of its far reaching implications, it may take few years for corporates to adapt itself with the same.

I would like to conclude by quoting what Indira Nooyi, Chairperson, PepsiCo said at NDTV @ 25 while accepting the honor as Global Living Legend which is so simple yet powerful:

Be a lifelong student, whatever you do, throw yourself into it, and help others rise

With best regards
